Good Health Products in the Chinese market

Few milestones in our journey make us prouder than supporting Good Health Products' successful entry into the Chinese market in 2003. It was an early proof of everything we believe about NZ-China business: that a disciplined, partner-led approach beats guesswork every time.

At the time, Good Health was New Zealand's largest dietary supplement company and China was a market full of promise and pitfalls in equal measure. Regulatory requirements were unfamiliar, distribution channels were hard to reach, and cultural differences in marketing and consumer behaviour could make or break a launch.

Our work covered the full picture: deep market research, a tailored entry strategy, regulatory compliance and product registration, and the careful identification of distributors who genuinely wanted the product. We acted as the commercial bridge between Good Health and its Chinese partners, and stayed on for ongoing marketing and localisation support.

The results speak for themselves:

  • More than NZ$10 million in sales within the first two years
  • Partnerships with 6 major distributors in Shanghai, Beijing and other provinces
  • Successfully registered 15 products with Chinese regulatory authorities
  • Strong brand recognition built in key Chinese markets
  • The company was later acquired by a Chinese enterprise at a significant premium

Looking back, the Good Health story contains every element of the approach we still use today: find the partner who needs you, do the diligence, respect the regulation, and stay involved until the result is real. We are proud to have illuminated that path, and we remain grateful to the Good Health team for trusting us with it.
